The Flint and Walling Manufacturing Co. began making windmills in 1878 in Kendallville, Indiana. Windmills were available in 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, and 16 feet in diameter. The one pictured on the front of this customer ledger looks like one of the larger ones.
The back cover has a pen-and-ink style illustration of a large farm advertising for Hoosier Pneumatic Water Supply Systems.
The inside front cover has an identification card on top and a list of troubleshooting hints below.
On the back inside cover has diagrams of Hoosier and Fast Mail water pumps.
Inside are 16 pages in a grid format for taking notes. There’s some slight discoloration on the outside butter from over a hundred years of storage, but it is exaggerated by the photos and has no effect on the graphics.
The ledger is pocket-sized, measuring 5 1/2 x 2 5/8 inches. It has rounded corners to prevent folding and bending.
It’s obvious that it was never used.
Because I live in Michigan, I would be glad to mail it to you.
